A large portion of this portfolio incorporates a lighting technique referred to as “Light Painting”, the illumination of various elements in a scene while the camera shutter remains open for an extended period of time.  What this really means is that I carry spotlights, battery packs, and cameras around, wait until dark, open the shutter, and then get to work. Some of the exposures here are quite long, from several minutes to almost an hour.
